You could say that Nory LeBrun was born in the business. His father was part of the Scripps-Howard Television group and Nory was working in cable when systems offered little more than HBO and local TV stations. Nory's career spans over three decades pioneering the launch of national cable and broadcast television networks, as an owner/operator of broadcast television stations, and as a leader in industry-related companies outside the traditional television media.
Working alongside Ted Turner, Nory was also "cable before cable was cool." As Vice President Turner Cable Sales & Marketing in the early 80's, Nory hired and led Turner's original affiliate sales and marketing team and was author of the ad sales/fee based financial structure for CNN, CNN Headline News, and WTBS that remains as the foundation for distribution of the Turner (AOL-Time Warner) Networks and is the model widely used by cable networks today.
Nory helped Food Network become the preferred dish among cable networks helping with pre-launch financing and putting together the original team for distribution and marketing. As Executive Vice President Cable & Broadcast Affiliate Sales and Marketing at Home Shopping Network, he led the team that put HSN on the map, adding over 23 million subscribers over a three-year period.
Nory's career in broadcast television began as an Account Executive with Scripps-Howard, and he quickly earned positions as local, national and General Sales Manager. He went on to be General Manager, President and owner/operator at group-owned and independent stations across the Southeast. This experience puts him in a rare place of understanding not only both sides of the broadcast/cable fence, but hands-on understanding of all levels of broadcast operations.
Outside traditional television, Nory helped revamp the sales structure as Senior Vice President of Sales for On Command, a leading provider of in-room entertainment and communication solutions for the hotel industry. And as President and COO of CNN Better Health Network, an education/information channel distributed in doctor's waiting rooms, LeBrun restructured the company for a better financial future.
These are just a few of the highlights of Nory's background.
